I need to delete cache files to save space on my laptop. I’m uneasy about deleting the .webp files in my Tropy cache since they are photo files (though the photo files are kept on an external hard drive of mine). Are the .webp files just shortcuts or actual copies of photos? Can I delete them without losing some photos?

the .webp files in the cache are actual copies of the original photos (all the variants that Tropy needs to display the photos) – but as long as you have all the originals it is save to delete the cache. Tropy will recreate the cache on consolidation.
