Reordering images files in Tropy

That promise did not age well, I’m afraid. This has not landed in a release yet, and I’ll refrain from making further promises beyond that this is going to be addressed.

I have the same problem. Importing tonnes of images extracted from bundled PDFs name that are then sorted in the grid view as.

cwgc_file26 (1).jpeg
cwgc_file26 (10).jpeg
cwgc_file26 (11).jpeg
cwgc_file26 (12).jpeg

cwgc_file26 (19).jpeg
cwgc_file26 (2).jpeg
cwgc_file26 (20).jpeg
cwgc_file26 (21).jpeg

Anybody found a workaround?

When I rank them by the ‘box’ or ‘source’ column it usually reinstates the original order of the PDF, you may want to give it a try…

For those who are batch renaming files before importing to Tropy, I suggest you install Microsoft PowerToys and then use PowerRename to have better control of how file names should look like. PowerToys is an incredible pack of apps, kind of life changing for me.

edit: obviously, this only applies to Windows users.

PowerToys is indeed amazing. For this task, the Bulk Rename Utility is great too.
