Controlled Vocabulary Widget

Hello - I’m writing on behalf of a researcher I’m working with to ask if Tropy now has the capacity to limit metadata entries to a range of pre-set options within a controlled vocabulary. For example, a metadata field “Document type” with 4 options as a limited dropdown or suggested text:

Letter
Note
Report
Poster

A user adding metadata to objects would not be able to enter any other options, just these 4.

It looks like at least from this post that you are not yet able to make the metadata inputs expressive, here’s another user who wanted to do a similar thing.

This feature was listed as coming soon, but it’s been a few years since these posts and I wanted to see if this might be possible now! It would really help with data management.

This hasn’t been implemented yet.

It’s not the same thing, but you can limit the auto-completion to ‘datatype and property’ in the preferences. By doing this, the auto-completion for “Document type” will only suggest values that are already used for “Document type”, so if you enter the four values once and then make it a practice to only set the value using the auto-completion you ensure that only those four values are used.

Thanks @inukshuk - not the same thing, but this will actually align with what they’re trying to do and meet the need, I think. Thank you so much for your help!
