I am a new tropy user and created a project yesterday. Today I opened tropy and it wasn’t there. This leads me to believe I didn’t save it correctly? How do you save your projects within this platform.

The project will be saved in regular intervals if you make any changes to it, so you never need to actively ‘save’ it yourself.
At start-up Tropy will try to automatically open the most recent project if it can find it. So what likely happened in your case is that it could not do so for some reason. However, you can just open the project file manually, via File -> Open or pressing Ctrl/Cmd + O in the project window and selecting the project file. If you did not change the default location, then your project file should be in your Documents folder and have the original project name.
