Including image selections in PDF

Hello :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:,

I’m currently using Tropy to organize my local history research, including medieval and modern archival documents and photographs. Recently, I’ve also started using it to manage family and group photographs (both my own and those lent to me for scanning).

My question concerns selections in photographs. I will create selections (for example, faces in a group photo), but when I export an item via File → Export → PDF, the selections do not appear in the PDF. I’ve seen this discussed in older topics, where it seemed like this feature was considered at some point.

So I’d like to ask: Is it currently possible to export selections so they appear in the PDF? If not, is this feature planned?

Ideally, I’d like a PDF that shows the full group photo with its metadata, and below (or on another page) smaller images of each selection, titled with the name of the selection. If anyone has experience using Tropy for identifying people in group photos and has a better workflow, I’d be glad to hear it.

The selections are not currently included in the PDF export. We’re still planning to add additional print modes (currently it’s just one photo per page) and to make this work sooner, we can consider adding an option to the current mode that treats each selection as a photo.
