Hello! I am a scholar with a massive archival backlog that I want to start organizing via Tropy. My advisor recommended this as the best free tool for tagging photos that I could find on PC.
Here is my question: is Tropy the best fit for what I need? The crux of the problem is that I basically want a database system of some kind that works across different computers, or at least one where I can upload the same labelling and categorized system across different computers once complete. I am going to travel to a writing fellowship this fall and bringing my desktop computer is a no-go. That is way too massive and too sensitive to lug on a flight.
So, basically, is there a way to do this? Either in terms of having one database on, say, an external harddrive that I connect to one computer or the other, or in terms of having it sorted on one, saving, and reuploading to a separate one?
My worry is that I’m going to commit a ton of time into setting this up only for transferring it becoming a problem. I saw some older chatter on this but wanted to check to see if old advice is still current.
Thanks!
