Mac too old for Tropy?

After updating my (very old) Mac, when opening Tropy I get ‘no longer compatible, need to update’ etc.. I went onto GitHub and downloaded a version of Tropy that my Mac accepts, however the app is now crashing and when opening it says with a pop’up: SQLITE_CANTOPEN: unable to open database file.

I can see my Tropy folders in my Mac finder, and I absolutely have to get them back! I’m a PhD student and all of my data is on them. PLEASE HELP TROPY WIZARDS!

How are you opening the file? Or does this error appear when you start Tropy? If you can share the log file after the error happens (Help → Show log files) we can take a look at it.

By itself the error above usually means that Tropy is trying to open the wrong file. But the log file will hopefully tell us more.
