Good idea, we’ll look into it! Do you have a preferred key-binding in mind?
Maybe like CTRL/Command + K. So you can easily create a new Note and in my case paste the copied Note with CTRL/Command + V.
We’ve added this in the upcoming 1.17.2. Currently using Shift+Ctrl/Cmd+T (like 'T’ext) because it’s more in-line with the other ‘new’ shortcuts.

Update: the shortcut will be Ctrl/Cmd + N.
