Hi All,
I’m new to Tropy, and so far I’m loving it. Thank you to the development team!
One problem I encountered when using Tropy on different computers is that my lists and tags that I created on my desktop are missing when I open the same project on my laptop. Is there a trick to maintaining these across my computers? BTW, I keep my Trophy project on Dropbox.
Thanks!
John
Both lists and tags are saved in project file, so they should always be there. If they are not, then it’s most likely that the file on Dropbox wasn’t synced when you opened it.
It’s possible to share a project file between devices like this, but you need to keep in mind that Tropy only sees the file stored on your local disk and it isn’t aware that Dropbox also interacts with the file. For this reason, you need to be very careful to always close your project on a device if you’re finished working on it and making sure that it is synced to Dropbox. And before you open it, also always make sure that the file is fully synced. Otherwise, Dropbox will notice that there are conflicting versions of the same file and it will likely keep only one (typically, it stores the other version with a suffix). I’d also recommend to make sure Dropbox is configured in a way that lets you retrieve previous versions of the file: this way you can always recover your file in case a sync conflict overwrites data or corrupts the file.
