Thumbnails of files in Explorer are no longer displayed

Hello,
I installed Tropy on my Windows 10 computer, created a new project and linked some images to try it out.
After that, the thumbnails of all files in explorer stopped showing up.
Not just jpg and png, but thumbnails of files with various extensions. the Tropy icon didn’t show up either.
When I click on the file, it opens, but the thumbnail is not displayed.
I got scared and uninstalled Tropy and restarted my computer. Then the thumbnails displayed fine.
Is Tropy not available on my computer? Do you have any advice?
Thanks for your help.

After the installation on Windows, Tropy adds a few registry keys, so that the Tropy icon shows up for .tpy and .ttp files and that you can open them by double-clicking. This should not affect whether or not thumbnails are displayed for other file types.

For standard projects, Tropy also changes the default folder icon on Windows when you open the project, maybe that’s related to the issue.

In any case, could you try the following steps to isolate what could be causing this?

  1. Confirm that thumbnails work
  2. Install Tropy, but don’t create or open a project, just close it again after the first start
  3. Check whether or not thumbnails work in Explorer at this point. If the thumbnails still work at this point then proceed and
  4. Open or create a project. Then close Tropy again and check Explorer again.
