Hi everyone,
I’ve always found working with microfilm and Tropy frustrating because it often felt as though I was doing the same work twice: first, selecting the documents I needed from long microfilm reels; then, entering all the metadata and recording why each document mattered and why I had selected it.
In practice, these two stages often have to remain separate because it is usually impossible to install Tropy on an archive workstation.
So, here is Tropy Capture, a web-based tool that lets you save images captured from microfilm and enter their metadata on the spot. At the end of a session, you can export everything as a portable package and import it into Tropy on your own computer.
I hope it may be useful to someone!
