Videos and audios

Hello, is there any way to upload video and audio?

Currently audio and video files are not supported, but we may explore those formats in the future.

just wanted to add a supportive comment to this feature request. We’re using Tropy for creating a visual collection for large non-profit AR documentary project, and in addition to images, we’d love to add videos in the same way (tagging, description etc) as well.

Hey inukshuk,

Thanks so much for your and your team’s hard work on Tropy. We discovered and adopted it about 2 years ago after returning from South Korea when we needed to find a way to archive our digital material from the 25th World Scout Jamboree! Since then, we also found out we could potentially use it to tons of our other projects, including some of our most precious log books, both recent and vintage.

It’s in this context that we’d like to second Nikoonik and barnabarna’s request for adding support for audio formats (and eventually, video). You see, our problem is now somehow similar to theirs: for a new scouting project in relation to the celebration of our centenary in about 18 months, we are digitising many old sketches, drawings and other documents, but we also happen to have audio recordings (much more rarely, videos too) of the then troop members, a collection of rare and yet very emotional items to preserve for future generations

However, due to Tropy’s current limitations, this audio material has so far to be kept separate from the documents archived in our sessions, and it’d be very convenient to have them reunited in one single application as there’s obviously a strong relationship between the scans and the recordings I’ve mentioned.

Anyway, just a suggestion. Perhaps, your team will have an opportunity to implement something along those lines, sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Cheers!
