High CPU usage on Linux

I witness a rather high usage which makes about 10% even when Tropy runs idle. I’m on Linux Mint 21.2 and it applies to Tropy 1.12 as well as 1.14.

There were some older discussions about the same topic (such as Fans and CPU/GPU temp) but I haven’t seen anything concluding in the forum.

This is especially annoying on laptops (which, I think, historians working in archives tend to use). Any ideas and possible solutions?

Thanks for reporting! Yes, it looks like there is an issue with the image viewer: the update cycle doesn’t shut off completely for some reason. We’ll take a look at it!

A dedicated low-energy preference when running on battery power is on our wishlist as well. But this definitely looks like a bug.
